PRISON VISIT

In October 2024, the students at Bharath Institute of Law had the opportunity to visit both the Central Prison and the Special Prison for Women as part of an educational initiative. The visit provided students with an insightful look into the workings of the prison system, highlighting the challenges faced by incarcerated individuals and the importance of reform in the justice system. It was a thought-provoking experience that allowed students to engage with real-world issues in criminal justice and correctional systems, deepening their understanding of law enforcement, rehabilitation, and human rights. This visit further enriched their legal education, promoting awareness and empathy in their future careers as legal professionals.

Final year LLB students from Bharath Institute of Law visited a prison as part of their legal education program. The visit was conducted under the guidance of HOD Nageswara Rao, along with faculties Mrs. Shaheen Khan, Mrs. Nalini Devi, Mrs. Blessy, Mr. Yuvan, Mrs. Sophia, Mrs. Rani, Mrs. Sagunthala, and Ms. Lavanya. This initiative aimed to provide students with real-world insights into the criminal justice system, fostering a deeper understanding of prison reforms, inmate rights, and the rehabilitation process. The visit also offered students a chance to interact with prison authorities, gaining valuable experience to complement their academic learning.

During their prison visit, Bharath Institute of Law students engaged with prison authorities, asking insightful questions about inmate classification, prison management, and rehabilitation programs. They gained valuable insights into the daily routines of prisoners, resource management, and the legal rights and rehabilitation initiatives aimed at reintegrating inmates into society.

Ms. Renuga, a III LLB student, along with her peers, actively interacted with the authorities, asking key questions about prisoners' legal rights, access to legal aid, healthcare, education, and rehabilitation programs. They also delved into efforts to prevent overcrowding and discussed reforms like vocational training, psychological counseling, and restorative justice aimed at helping inmates reintegrate into society.
